Enshrouded Elixir Wells - Shroud Cores and Fell Thunderbrutes

What Elixir Wells are in Enshrouded: biome-band nodes held by a Fell Thunderbrute, which drops the Shroud Cores that expand your Flame Altar build area.

Editor’s note: We have been testing this in early access and confirm the guard, the Shroud Core drop and the Flame-band gating. Where a count or a coordinate could not be confirmed we mark it not yet independently verified rather than guess - and verify against the live 1.0 build. Last verified: 2026-09-29.

If you only learn one location type in Enshrouded, make it this one. Elixir Wells are the nodes that fund everything else: each holds a Shroud Core, and the Shroud Core is what turns a small camp into a buildable base.

What is an Elixir Well in Enshrouded?

Attribute Detail
Type Fixed world node, one per region band
Guarded by Fell Thunderbrute - slow heavy melee, kitable through its long pause windows
Drops Shroud Core + head trophy
Why it matters Shroud Cores expand your Flame Altar build area
Gating Opens in bands as your Flame level rises
Exception The Albaneve Summits well is the Fell Cyclops arena (Flame 7)

Why do Elixir Wells matter for building?

Your Flame Altar defines a protected build zone with extended Shroud-survival time inside it (whether the mist fully recedes there is not yet independently verified). Expanding that zone costs Shroud Cores - which is the same currency loop as raising your Flame via boss heads. So the Wells are not side content, they are the supply line for base size, and the reason a Fell Thunderbrute kill is worth more to a builder than a same-tier open-world mob farm.

How do you clear an Elixir Well?

  1. Clear in Flame order, not map order. The Wells open in bands as your Flame rises; chasing a distant one early means fighting the mist instead of the boss. The Flame 1-9 route is the sequence.
  2. Kite the Thunderbrute. It is the slowest boss in the game and its heavy swings have long recovery. Ranged or hit-and-run melee both work; standing in front of it does not.
  3. Bank the Cores for one expansion at a time. Cores are also the material you will want for later altar placements, so spend them against a plan rather than on the first prompt.
  4. Take the head. The head is the Flame progression item, and it is the reason a Well trip doubles as a gate-opening run.

The community wiki counts nineteen Elixir Wells in early access - the world total, spread across every biome from the Springlands to the Veilwater Basin. Each one is the same run: fight down to the Shroud Root, fell it for Skill Points, and take the resident boss’s head for the Flame. Per-biome coordinates are not yet published (we do not print unverified pins), and the 1.0 Flame gate for each Well is to be verified at 1.0.

Where are Elixir Wells located?

The Wells are the recurring node in the boss arena route: Springlands through Veilwater Basin, each in the band your Flame allows. On the interactive map the bosses that live at Wells are pinned; the Wells themselves now have coordinates from the Enshrouded Wiki DataMaps, listed below.

FAQ

What do you get from an Elixir Well?
A Shroud Core and a boss head from the Fell Thunderbrute that guards it. The Core expands your Flame Altar build area; the head is what raises your Flame level and opens the next biome band.
How many Elixir Wells are there?
Unconfirmed. They appear across the biomes on a regional band, but the exact per-biome count and world total are on the launch-day verification list, so we do not publish a number.
Can you visit an Elixir Well early?
You can reach one, but the Shroud around it is the wall, not the boss. Under the right Flame level the mist kills the attempt before the Thunderbrute does, so Wells are cleared in Flame order.
Is the Fell Cyclops in an Elixir Well?
Yes - the Albaneve Summits Elixir Well is the Flame 7 Fell Cyclops arena, so that particular Well holds a different boss than the Thunderbrute pattern.
