Enshrouded PS5 Beginner Guide - Controls, Settings & First Steps

Editor’s note: Enshrouded 1.0 launches on PS5 October 15, 2026. This guide is platform-specific for console players. Now that 1.0 is live, the key console facts are confirmed below; anything still platform-specific is noted in-page. Last verified: 2026-10-15.

This is the PS5 beginner guide for Enshrouded — the console-first starter for 1.0. It assumes the game is installed and skips the platform-agnostic basics covered in the general beginner guide.

Is Enshrouded on PS5 the same as PC?

The game world, biomes, and 1.0 content are identical across platforms. What changes on PS5:

• Input: DualSense controller (see the controls below).
• Player cap: 8 on PS5 co-op, 16 on PC dedicated servers.
• Cross-play: not in the 1.0 build - Keen lists it as a future goal, so PC and PS5 worlds stay separate.

Best PS5 settings for performance

• Performance vs Quality mode: pick Performance if your TV is 60Hz; Quality if you have a 120Hz display (the in-game display shows which modes are active).
• Motion blur / vignette: turn off if you find them distracting — purely preference.
• Haptics: DualSense adaptive triggers are supported; disable in settings if they tire your hands.

Your first hour on PS5

1. Drop at Cindervault in Springlands and light your first Flame Altar (Flame Altar guide).
2. Craft a Stone Axe and gather your first resources.
3. Rescue the Blacksmith to unlock the Glider and Grappling Hook (unlock guide).
4. Follow the beginner guide levels 1–15 route.

PS5 co-op and cross-play

PS5 co-op supports up to 8 players. To play with friends:

• Host or join a session from the in-game menu.
• Console-to-PC cross-play is not in the 1.0 build — plan your group’s platform accordingly (see the crossplay guide).
• PS Plus is required for online co-op on PS5 (PlayStation’s standard online-multiplayer requirement).
