Enshrouded Crossplay PS5 & PC: No Cross-Platform in 2026

Enshrouded crossplay between PS5 and PC is not confirmed: no cross-platform play is announced, PS5 needs PS Plus, and player caps are 16 on PC and 8 on PS5.

Editor’s note: Crossplay is one of the few questions where the honest answer is “not confirmed” rather than a date. We checked the PlayStation Store listing for the PS5 version (8 online players, PS Plus required) against what Keen Games has published, and cross-checked the platform status against two independent competitor trackers. Where a competitor contradicts the official listing, we follow the listing. Last verified: 2026-09-30.

If your group is spread across PC and console, read this before anyone buys a second copy.

Is Enshrouded crossplay?

No. Enshrouded is a PC (Steam) game during early access, so there is nothing to cross-play with; and for the 1.0 launch on October 15, 2026 the PlayStation 5 version arrives without any published cross-platform support. Every platform pair, and what each one can actually do:

Pairing Status What that means in practice
PC + PC Works Shared worlds and dedicated servers, up to 16 players
PC + PS5 Not confirmed The PS5 version ships at 1.0, but no cross-platform play has been announced
PC + Xbox Not confirmed The Xbox version does not exist until spring 2027, and crossplay is unannounced
PS5 + PS5 Works from October 15, 2026 Same-platform co-op, up to 8 players, PS Plus required
PS5 + Xbox Not confirmed Both versions must exist first - spring 2027 at the earliest
Xbox + Xbox Expected spring 2027 The Xbox version is confirmed for spring 2027; its player cap is not published

Resolved on launch day (October 15, 2026): Keen’s Launch FAQ confirms crossplay does not ship with 1.0 — PC and PS5 worlds stay separate, with crossplay listed as a future goal and no date. The PS5 cap ships at 8 online players (PS Plus required) per the PlayStation Store listing; the Xbox version is slated for spring 2027, so its cap remains unpublished.

Which platforms is Enshrouded on?

Platform Status Co-op cap Notes
PC (Steam) Available now (early access) 16 players Dedicated servers supported
PlayStation 5 1.0 launch, October 15, 2026 8 players PS5 Pro Enhanced; PS Plus required for online play; no PS4 version
Xbox Series X|S Spring 2027 Not published No Xbox One version
Nintendo Switch Not announced - No version announced

How many players can play Enshrouded together?

The caps differ by platform, which is exactly the kind of detail that breaks a group plan:

  • PC: up to 16 players. That is the headline number, and it is the one a dedicated server exists to serve.
  • PS5: up to 8 players. The PlayStation Store listing for the PS5 version states 8 online players and PS Plus for online play. (Some competitor pages list 16 for PS5 - the official listing says 8.)
  • Xbox: not published. The version is still in development for spring 2027.

Most real sessions run 2-6 people, which is the band the co-op team planner is built around, and the band solo vs co-op builds assumes when it talks about roles.

Can a dedicated server be crossplay?

No. Enshrouded’s dedicated servers are the PC side of the game: a rented server hosts a PC world for PC players, which is why the hosting comparison only ever quotes PC slot counts. A cross-platform group would need crossplay first, and crossplay has not been announced.

What should a cross-platform group do instead?

  1. Pick one platform before anyone buys. A cross-platform group is currently two separate groups. The 1.0 buying and platforms guide lays out what each version gets you.
  2. If someone was on the fence about 1.0 anyway, should you buy 1.0 is the decision page - it is cheaper to decide once than to buy twice.
  3. Plan the squad on the platform you picked. Up to 16 on PC and up to 8 on PS5 changes what “full group” means; the team planner scales to your real number.
  4. Re-check on launch day. Crossplay is the single most likely thing to be announced alongside 1.0.

What changes on October 15, 2026?

Three things are worth re-checking on launch day, and only one of them is likely to move: the crossplay announcement (if it comes, it comes with 1.0), the PS5 player cap as shipped, and whether Adventure Sharing lets a console group join a PC-hosted world. For the confirmed scope of the launch itself, see the 1.0 update overview and the roadmap.
