Games Like Enshrouded: 6 Alternatives Worth Playing

Six games like Enshrouded ranked by how much of the same loop they deliver: Valheim, Palworld, V Rising, Sons of the Forest, Nightingale and Conan Exiles.

Editor’s note: This is an editorial comparison, not a data page. We describe what each game shares with Enshrouded from playing the same genre; we do not publish release dates, player caps or platform lists for games we have not verified, and we do not rank by score. Where a number appears, it is Enshrouded’s own (verified) figure. Last verified: 2026-10-15.

Enshrouded 1.0 is out now (October 15, 2026) - if you want something to play while the launch rush settles, or between Enshrouded sessions. These six are the closest matches, ordered by how much of the same loop they actually deliver.

What makes Enshrouded hard to replace?

Enshrouded is not one mechanic, it is a combination, and most alternatives only deliver part of it:

  1. Voxel base-building with a base nobody attacks - the building side is creative, not defensive (see the base design gallery).
  2. Survival crafting gated by a progression ladder - seven biomes opened in order by your Flame level rather than by gear score.
  3. Action-RPG combat - dodging, parries, stamina, and builds that actually change how you fight.
  4. A deep, respeccable skill tree - the Forging the Path rebuild turned it into the game’s main progression system.

Drop any one of those and you have a different game. That is why the list below is ranked by overlap, not by quality.

Which games are most like Enshrouded?

Game What it shares with Enshrouded What it does differently Pick it if
Valheim The whole loop: gather, craft, build, fight biome bosses, co-op with friends More grounded, physics-driven survival; no skill tree, no class-flavoured builds You want the closest like-for-like swap
Palworld Base-building, crafting and resource runs with real-time combat Adds creature collection, automation and mounts on top of the loop Creature collection is the part you actually want
V Rising Survival base-building fused with boss hunts and action-RPG combat Faster, more isometric action combat; vampire theme instead of fog You want Enshrouded’s rhythm at a faster pace
Sons of the Forest Shelter building, cave diving, hostile-world exploration Survival horror first: tension and enemies, not progression systems You liked the tense exploration half
Nightingale Survival crafting with a strong building system and gear progression Realm-hopping between card-generated worlds; gaslamp fantasy setting You want building plus a setting twist
Conan Exiles Big open-world survival with some of the deepest base-building in the genre Combat and progression are more traditional survival-RPG Building depth is the thing you care about most

Why is Valheim the closest match?

Valheim is the benchmark for the loop Enshrouded is built on: you gather, you craft, you raise a base, you take down biome bosses, and you do it with friends - its store description frames it as a brutal survival game for 1-10 players in a procedurally-generated Norse world. The differences are all in Enshrouded’s favour if you want character progression: Enshrouded adds the skill tree, class-flavoured builds and vertical exploration. Valheim is the better pick if you want survival that feels physical rather than stat-driven.

What does Palworld add?

Palworld runs the same base-building and crafting loop, then bolts creature collection onto it - and the creatures are not just combat pets, they work your base and carry you across the map. If the part of Enshrouded you enjoy is the camp rather than the boss fights, Palworld is the strongest overlap on this list. The trade-off is tone: it is louder and more systems-heavy than Enshrouded’s fog-and-ruins mood.

Is V Rising the faster version?

Effectively yes. V Rising keeps the survival base-building and the boss-hunting rhythm, then speeds up the combat and makes it more deliberately action-oriented. If Enshrouded’s fights are the part you replay and the building is the part you tolerate, V Rising is the recommendation. If the reverse is true, Comfort system and the base gallery are the Enshrouded systems you would miss.

What about Sons of the Forest, Nightingale and Conan Exiles?

  • Sons of the Forest covers the tense half of Enshrouded: building a shelter, diving into cave systems, surviving a hostile island. It is survival horror before it is progression.
  • Nightingale covers the crafting and building half, but moves it between card-generated realms in a gaslamp fantasy setting. It is the pick if a different setting is what you want.
  • Conan Exiles covers the building half hardest - some of the deepest base-building in the genre - with more conventional survival-RPG combat around it.

All three are one-half answers. They are worth playing, but they are not substitutes for the full Enshrouded combination.

So which one should you play?

  1. Want the same loop? Valheim.
  2. Want creatures and automation? Palworld.
  3. Want faster combat? V Rising.
  4. Want the tension? Sons of the Forest.
  5. Want building depth above all? Conan Exiles.
  6. Actually starting 1.0 now? Start with the beginner guide and check what 1.0 changes - a long new survival save is exactly the right investment now.

If your group is deciding together, sort out platforms first: Enshrouded has no crossplay announced, and the 1.0 buying guide covers what each version gets you.

FAQ

What game is most like Enshrouded?
Valheim. It is the same gather-craft-build-fight loop with biome bosses and co-op, and it is the closest like-for-like swap. Palworld is the nearest match if the part you love is base-building plus real-time combat.
Is Enshrouded just a Valheim clone?
No. The shared part is the survival loop, but Enshrouded leans action-RPG: a deep respeccable skill tree, class-flavoured builds, and vertical exploration that feels closer to a Zelda game than to Valheim's grounded survival.
Which game should I play if I want a break from Enshrouded?
Valheim if you want the loop Enshrouded is built on, Palworld if you want creatures and automation, V Rising if you want faster combat. 1.0 is out now, so treat the pick as a break, not a replacement.
Do any of these games have crossplay?
Platform and crossplay rules differ per game and change often, so check each store page before buying with a group. Enshrouded itself has no crossplay announced - see our crossplay page for the current platform status.
