Early access (January 2024)

Enshrouded entered early access in January 2024, the survival action RPG from Keen Games (the studio behind Portal Knights). Over roughly two and a half years it added the biomes, the Flame Altar progression system, the Shroud, and co-op. For the full launch-of-1.0 context, see the 1.0 release overview.

Update 7 - Veilwater Basin (November 2025)

Update 7 was the last content update before the combat rebuild. It opened the Veilwater Basin - the sixth and final biome, a tropical endgame coast at levels 35-45 and Flame 8-9 - and added the Hydrak’Dal Drak boss at the Drak’Dal Temple (Flame 9). See the Update 7 patch notes and the Veilwater Basin guide.

Update 8 - Forging the Path (April 21, 2026)

Update 8 (v0.9.1.0) is the final pre-1.0 major update and the deepest systems overhaul in the game’s history. Its pillars:

  • Skill tree rebuild - the free-form pool is now 12 class paths in three color categories around a central hub, with a full point refund and upgradeable skills. See the Forging the Path skill tree guide.
  • Combat overhaul - weapon special abilities, heavy attacks, and a new enemy-awareness system.
  • Adventure Sharing v1 - the first version of the community world-sharing feature. See the Adventure Sharing guide.

The full change log is on the Update 8 patch notes.

1.0 release (October 15, 2026)

1.0 is confirmed for October 15, 2026, with PC and PS5 on the same day and the Xbox version in spring 2027. For the launch, Keen has confirmed an expanded world (a new area) plus performance optimizations for the 16-player co-op cap. For who 1.0 is for, platform by platform, see the 1.0 buying and platform guide.

Post-1.0 roadmap

After 1.0, Keen has committed to long-term support. The confirmed post-1.0 items:

  • Adventure Sharing V2 - logic systems, interactive elements, puzzles, enemy spawning, and traps, turning the feature into a full creative platform. See the Adventure Sharing guide.
  • Expanded world and performance work - continuing the 16-player-cap optimizations.
