Enshrouded Hollow Halls - Bone Keys, Barrier Runes, Hollow Cyclops

How Enshrouded's Hollow Halls work: Alchemist quest entry, the per-biome Bone Key gate, barrier runes inside, and the Hollow Cyclops at the bottom.

Editor’s note: We have been testing this in early access and confirm the entry chain, the Bone Key requirement and the implemented-hall count. Where a detail could not be confirmed we mark it not yet independently verified rather than guess - and verify against the live 1.0 build. Last verified: 2026-09-29.

Of Enshrouded’s four instance types, the Hollow Halls are the only ones that behave like a conventional dungeon: multi-level, populated, quest-gated, repeatable, and with a boss at the bottom. If you want endgame gear without chasing an open-world arena, this is the content type.

What is a Hollow Hall in Enshrouded?

Attribute Detail
Structure Multi-level subterranean crypt
Population The Hollow - Enshrouded’s undead, including Reapers and Mages
Entry Quest chain: Alchemist to Collector
Gate Biome-specific Bone Keys for the later halls
Progression inside Clear barrier runes to open the way down
Ends with The Hollow Cyclops
Repeatable Yes - it is the farmable endgame dungeon

How many Hollow Halls are there?

Implemented in early access: Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes. The Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin halls are stubs - the spaces exist, the content does not.

Each hall scales to its region, so a Springlands Hollow Hall is a far gentler room than a Kindlewastes one, and the Hollow Cyclops inside is the same boss, but a much tougher version of it. That makes the halls the natural way to farm endgame content inside the biome you are already standing in, instead of travelling to a Flame 8 arena.

Resolved at 1.0: the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin halls both ship with the launch build — the Veilwater hall requires the diving goggles. The full Bone Key quest chain per biome and the exact barrier-rune mechanics are still not documented in any official source and stay pending in-game verification.

How do you enter and clear a Hollow Hall?

  1. Do the Alchemist-to-Collector chain first. The hall is locked behind quest progress, not combat rating. See the NPCs page for where the artisans sit.
  2. Bring the Bone Key if the hall needs one. Nothing wastes a trip deeper into a crypt than finding the door closed.
  3. Take a healer. Hall difficulty is the party-scaling case: solo is possible, coordinated is comfortable. The co-op team planner outputs the lineup for your headcount.
  4. Respect the Mages. Reapers are the melee threat, but the Hollow Mages are what breaks a group that stacks up in a corridor.
  5. Fight the Hollow Cyclops on its own terms. It has a varied moveset and high single-hit melee damage, and it punishes standing in front of it. Its page has the confirmed behaviour.

What do Hollow Halls drop?

Halls are a gear and progression loop rather than a gate: barrier runes and the boss at the bottom, in a repeatable package. For the currency side of the same trip, Runes come from enemies and chests, so a hall run funds a respec on the way out.

FAQ

How do you get into a Hollow Hall?
Through a quest chain that runs from the Alchemist to the Collector. The early halls open on quest progress; the later ones additionally require a Bone Key specific to that biome.
What is a Bone Key?
A per-biome key that opens the deeper Hollow Halls. The exact chain that produces each Bone Key is not confirmed yet and is on the launch-day verification list.
How many Hollow Halls are there?
Four are implemented in early access - Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes. The Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin halls exist as stubs. Whether 1.0 ships all six is unconfirmed.
Can you run a Hollow Hall solo?
Yes, with the right build, and more comfortably in a group - the healer-plus-tank pairing is what makes a deep hall survivable, because it splits the job rather than the boss's numbers. How much Enshrouded adjusts a hall for party size is not verified in early access (not yet independently verified).
