Enshrouded Sparkworks: How the 1.0 Logic System Works

Sparkworks is Enshrouded's new 1.0 logic system: wire inputs like levers and pressure plates to outputs like doors and traps. See how it works.

Sparkworks is Enshrouded’s new logic system, shipping with the 1.0 launch on October 15, 2026. It lets you wire inputs (levers, pressure plates) to outputs (doors, traps) so your base reacts to players - and Keen says the only limit is your own imagination. This page explains how the input-output system works, the example Keen highlighted, and how it connects to base building and Adventure Sharing v2.

1.0 note: Sparkworks launched with the 1.0 release on October 15, 2026. Keen has not yet published the full component catalog, so the items below reflect what Keen confirmed in the announcement.

What is Sparkworks in Enshrouded 1.0?

Sparkworks is a logic and wiring system added in 1.0. Instead of a door that only opens when you press E, you connect a trigger to an action: pull a lever or step on a pressure plate, and something in your base responds - a door slides open, a trap fires, a bridge drops away. It turns static builds into interactive contraptions.

Keen frames the ceiling as “up to the player”: the system is a toolkit, not a fixed set of scripted puzzles, so what you can build grows with what you wire together.

How does the Sparkworks input-output system work?

At its core, Sparkworks is an input to output connection. You pick a trigger, pick what it drives, and link them. The two building blocks Keen named in the announcement:

Type Examples (from the announcement) What it does
Inputs (triggers) Lever, pressure plate Send a signal when a player interacts or steps on them
Outputs (actions) Door, trap React to the signal - open, close, fire, or drop

The exact behavior of each component (signal range, whether a lever toggles or latches, delay timers) is not yet documented - the full list of logic pieces is not yet published by Keen. What is confirmed is the model: triggers wired to actions, combined however you like.

What is the official trapdoor-bridge example?

Keen’s headline example is a base bridge you replace with a trapdoor: wire the bridge to a pressure plate so it only stays solid - or only drops - when someone steps on it. A visitor crossing your span triggers the plate, and the “bridge” becomes a trapdoor under them. It is the clearest illustration of what the system is for: turning a base feature into a player-triggered event.

This is the kind of contraption Adventure Sharing v2 is built to share (see below), which is why Sparkworks and Adventure Sharing land together.

How does Sparkworks connect to base building and Adventure Sharing?

Sparkworks is a base-building feature first. It layers on top of everything in the base design gallery and the building your first base loop - you still place a Flame Altar, still work inside its build zone, and now you can wire the structures you place.

It also feeds Adventure Sharing v2. Version 1 (Update 8) shipped read-only world tours; Keen has said v2 adds logic systems, puzzles, enemies, and traps so players can build interactive content for others. Sparkworks is the wiring layer that makes those interactive worlds possible - see the Adventure Sharing guide for what v1 shipped and what v2 is planned to add (exact timing not yet confirmed by Keen).

For groups, a wired base is a co-op activity: assign who builds the contraption and who stress-tests it in the co-op team planner, or use it to gate a route your squad runs in the bosses & dungeons hub.

When does Sparkworks launch?

Sparkworks ships with the 1.0 release on October 15, 2026 (PC and PS5; Xbox in spring 2027). It was announced ahead of launch in Keen’s October 8, 2026 news post, alongside an introductory video, with a Highlights video promised before launch. For the full launch picture, see the 1.0 update overview and the Update 9 (1.0 launch) patch notes.

What is still unconfirmed about Sparkworks?

Keen has confirmed the model (inputs wired to outputs) and named levers, pressure plates, doors, and traps, but the complete component list is not published yet. The following are not yet documented by Keen:

  • The full catalog of inputs, outputs, and any logic components (timers, gates, counters).
  • Exact wiring rules - signal range, line-of-sight, and how many outputs one input can drive.
  • Whether wired contraptions survive inside shared or uploaded Adventure Sharing worlds.
  • The performance cost of large logic networks on 16-player servers.
