Enshrouded Update 9 (1.0 Launch) - Full Patch Notes & What Changed
Enshrouded Update 9 is the 1.0 launch (Oct 15, 2026): level cap 45 to 50, a new lava biome, a combat/mage rework, and Sparkworks. What it means for your build.
Update 9 is Enshrouded’s 1.0 launch on October 15, 2026 - the day the game leaves early access. It is a content and combat launch, not a single-mechanic patch: a new biome, a combat and mage overhaul, the Sparkworks logic system, and a set of quality-of-life changes all land together. For the full context, see the 1.0 update overview.
Headline: Enshrouded leaves early access
The headline is simply that Enshrouded graduates to 1.0 on October 15, 2026 (PC and PS5; Xbox in spring 2027). After roughly two and a half years in early access, the build you buy on launch day is the finished product. Everything below is verified against Keen’s official launch patch notes (published October 14, 2026).
What changed, item by item
Confirmed for 1.0 (verified against the official patch notes on launch day):
- Level and gear caps. The player level cap rises 45 to 50 and the gear-level cap to 55.
- Flame Altar cap per world. Rises 10 to 16 (15, plus one after the final threat) - see the Flame Altar guide.
- New biome. Cinder’s Cradle - a lava region in the north with floating islands and 12 new Shroud Roots - plus explorable edge areas in Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes.
- Combat overhaul + mage focus. Nine new mage spells, a staff rework, and 22 Tier-7 Eternal spell versions.
- New enemies and bosses. 37 new enemies in total (14 from a new faction), and the story’s final champion awaits above the sky.
- Fell Dragon Youngling rework. Lower health, a new tired-standing ground phase, reworked staggers (stun arrows and lightning land better), higher knockback, and a back weakness that works with all weapons.
- Boss HP regeneration over time. Bosses now regenerate health gradually after combat breaks instead of instantly returning to full.
- Fishing rework. Any fish can be caught in any water with the right bait and rod - see the fishing guide.
- Character proportions rework (classic vs realistic body types at the barber) and an Updraft charge-time world setting.
- Quality of life. Mass scatter-loot pickup, nameable chests and map markers, and placing a Flame Altar near the Shroud edge from Flame 11.
- Sparkworks logic system - wire inputs to outputs to build interactive contraptions. See the Sparkworks guide.
- Steam price €39.99 (existing owners are not charged the difference).
The full 1.0 changelog (official, verified October 15, 2026)
Condensed from Keen Games’ official 1.0 launch changelog (Steam announcement, October 14, 2026). Every item below shipped with the 1.0.0.0 build.
World & quests
- The full map is open. The new northern region Cinder’s Cradle joins the world: a lava wasteland below, floating islands above, linked by Shroud tendrons, with 12 new Shroud Roots. Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes gain explorable edge areas with 6 more Shroud Roots.
- Two new Hollow Halls. The Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin halls ship at 1.0 — the Veilwater hall requires the diving goggles to enter.
- The story concludes. The Ancients / Shroud-corruption arc resolves against a final champion above the sky; 1.0.0.0 completes Embervale’s story.
- Most former no-build zones are now buildable; quests split into main and side; the Albaneve boss arena is widened with grapple anchors; Nomad Highlands’ Shroud area gains 3 save points; high-tier locks need the new Archaic lockpicks; wooden chests can now drop silver gear and every chest’s legendary chance is +5%; chests contain gold for vanity crafting; hourglasses are more frequent (+70% Shroud time) and also drop from large Fell enemies.
Enemies & combat
- 37 new enemies (14 from a new faction), with pathing, line-of-sight and behavior AI improvements.
- Bosses regenerate HP over time once combat breaks instead of snapping back to full — a wipe no longer resets the fight for free.
- The Albaneve Summits boss (Fell Dragon Youngling) is heavily nerfed: lower HP, a new tired-standing phase, reworked staggers (stun arrows and lightning land much better), higher knockback so you can glide back in, and a back weak point that works with every weapon.
- Enemies recover from hitstun faster; damage-resistance callouts only appear at 20% or more.
Progression
- Level cap 50, gear cap 55, Flame Altar cap 15 — 16 once the final threat is beaten — plus a new Flame tier and a new survivor versed in Ancient recipes.
- Armor recipes now auto-unlock with each Flame upgrade; Flame 6–9 crafting costs are reduced.
Mages & skills
- 9 new spells: Mana Drain, Entangle, Pillar of Flames, Blizzard, Ball Lightning, Summon Fire Totem, Summon Ice Totem, Summon Shock Totem, Summon Hollow Skeleton — plus 22 Tier-7 Eternal versions that consume no charges and upgrade like gear.
- New skills: Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage, Survival Instinct. Dagger skills move into the assassin tree.
- Blocking now regenerates stamina and resolves by camera direction; Shroud-time stacking effects are nerfed overall.
Base building
- Sparkworks (the adventure-sharing logic system), the free Airborne Architect flight-building skill, nameable chests and map markers, in-place chest upgrades into magic chests, and factory output tuning.
Tech & QoL
- New brick renderer, per-biome lighting and sky moods, HDR, much faster shader compilation, a new collision system, and a new save format — old saves auto-migrate, but the skill tree resets on first load of a pre-1.0 save.
- Full English/German/Chinese voice acting for lore notes, mass scatter-loot pickup (can be set to automatic), separate text and voice language options, and reworked keybindings (reset to defaults — torch is now R).
What 1.0 does NOT include
- Crossplay — not shipped. Keen lists it as a future goal with no date; PC and PS5 worlds stay separate.
- Xbox — the Xbox Series X|S version is slated for spring 2027.
How this affects your build
The combat and mage overhaul is the part that reshapes existing builds, so returners should expect to re-tune. Start from the Forging the Path skill tree guide for the 12-path layout and respec mechanics, then check the specific pages for the paths most affected by the mage focus:
- Wizard build - ranged elemental damage, the path most changed by the spell additions
- Mage build - AoE magic from a distance
- Battlemage build - close-range magic with wands and wards
- Ranger build - back-line physical damage, useful for the new flying and shielded enemies
For a playstyle-first map of every path, see best builds by path.
