What Keen has confirmed for 1.0

Keen has confirmed several 1.0 changes ahead of the October 15, 2026 launch. All of the figures below are now verified against the official launch patch notes (published October 14, 2026):

  • Level cap 45 to 50 and gear-level cap to 55.
  • Flame Altar cap per world 10 to 16 (15, plus one after the final threat).
  • A new biome - Cinder’s Cradle - a northern lava region with floating islands and 12 new Shroud Roots, plus explorable edge areas in Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes.
  • Combat and mage overhaul: nine new mage spells, a staff rework, and 22 Tier 7 Eternal spell versions.
  • Sparkworks logic system - the adventure-sharing wiring toolkit. See the Sparkworks guide.
  • Steam price €39.99 - announced August 31, 2026 (existing owners are not charged the difference). See the buying and platform guide.

Resolved on launch day

The launch-day check against the official patch notes settled the open questions:

  • The full 1.0 changelog is public - see the Update 9 (1.0 launch) patch notes for the verified item-by-item list.
  • Crossplay does not ship. Keen’s Launch FAQ confirms cross-platform play is not in the 1.0 build and lists it as a future goal with no date - PC and PS5 worlds stay separate. See the crossplay guide.
  • Console pricing - the PS5 version ships with 1.0; the Xbox version is slated for spring 2027.
  • Early-access owners keep their saves. Old saves auto-migrate to the new save format, but the skill tree resets on first load and Keen recommends starting a fresh world.

For the launch-day change log, see the Update 9 (1.0 launch) patch notes.

What does Forging the Path change?

Forging the Path (Update 8) is the final major update before 1.0, and its centerpiece is a complete rebuild of the skill tree into 12 class paths grouped into three color categories (red = melee/defense, green = ranged/agility, blue = magic/support) around a central hub of universal skills. Enshrouded still has no fixed classes - the paths are the new organizing principle for every build.

The full old-vs-new breakdown, respec mechanics, and first-invest advice live in the Forging the Path skill tree guide.

Which biomes are open at 1.0?

All six early-access biomes are open at launch, gated by the game’s dual-axis progression (character level plus Flame level), and a seventh biome - Cinder’s Cradle - ships at 1.0: a northern lava region with floating islands linked by Shroud tendrons. The level ranges below are a planning guide - the Flame level is what actually decides whether deadly Shroud passages are survivable.

# Biome Level range Flame Role
1 Springlands 1-10 1-2 Tutorial region, earliest levels
2 Revelwood 10-15 3 Second region (incl. the Blackmire sub-region)
3 Nomad Highlands 15-20 4 Mid-game plateau
4 Kindlewastes 20-30 5-6 Mid-game desert (heat hazards)
5 Albaneve Summits 30-40 6-8 Late-game frozen mountains
6 Veilwater Basin 35-45 8-9 Endgame tropical region (added November 2025)
7 Cinder’s Cradle (1.0) — — New northern lava region with floating islands and 12 new Shroud Roots

The level cap is 50 in the 1.0 build (up from 45 in early access), and gear can be upgraded to level 55 - both confirmed on the official patch notes.

How has the game changed since early access?

Early access began in January 2024. The two biggest additions since then are the Veilwater Basin endgame biome (added November 2025) and the Forging the Path skill tree rebuild (Update 8). For the 1.0 launch specifically, Keen has confirmed the changes listed in “What Keen has confirmed for 1.0” above - a new lava biome, the combat and mage overhaul, the Sparkworks logic system, raised level and Flame caps, and performance optimizations for the 16-player cap - with further content (e.g. Adventure Sharing V2) on the post-1.0 roadmap.

What should you do first when 1.0 launches?

  1. New player? Start with the Enshrouded beginner guide - six core stats, Flame Altar basics, and a level 1-15 route through Springlands.
  2. Returner? Read the Forging the Path skill tree guide for what changed in the tree and how to respec.
  3. Still deciding? The should-you-buy-1.0 comparison weighs it from both returner and new player perspectives.
  4. Checking where to buy? See the 1.0 buying and platform guide.
  5. Looking for launch-day codes? There is no code system in this game - see the codes status page for what to actually watch.
