Hollow Faction — Hollow Cyclops, Dungeon Loot & Per-Biome Halls
Hollow Cyclops: what makes it different from every other boss, how many Hollow Halls spawn per biome, and why its high melee damage demands a tank or heavy armor.

Hollow Cyclops at a glance
The Hollow faction is the dungeon-boss family of Enshrouded: it has a single named boss — the Hollow Cyclops — but it’s not a one-and-done fight. A Hollow Cyclops spawns as the final encounter inside every biome’s Hollow Hall — so you fight the same boss multiple times, once per biome hall. Each fight ends the dungeon loop and drops a biome-specific head trophy.
Boss roster: Hollow Cyclops (1 boss, repeated across per-biome Hollow Halls)

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelwood | Confirmed | 3+ | Hollow Cyclops | Hollow Cyclops Head + mid-game crafting |

| Veilwater Basin | Stub reported | 9+ | ↗ (pending 1.0) | ↗ |
Resolved at 1.0: the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls both ship with the launch build (Veilwater requires the diving goggles), completing one hall per biome. Head-trophy drop rates are still unpublished.
What makes the Hollow Cyclops unique
Three things separate the Hollow Cyclops from every other named boss in Embervale:
- It’s a dungeon boss, not an open-world boss. You clear a Hollow Hall, fight the Hollow Cyclops at the end, and loot the room. No Flame Altar required inside the dungeon.
- Highest melee damage of any boss. Every swing hits hard enough to one-shot runners wearing un-upgraded armor. Heavy armor or a tank build is non-negotiable — dodge only works for telegraphed attacks, not sustained pressure.
- Varied move-set. Unlike the Albaneve Caves Cyclops (single stomp attack), the Hollow Cyclops chains together slams, sweeps, grabs, and occasionally a multi-hit combo you can’t block through.
How the Hollow faction connects to the Shroud
Hollow Halls are the only dungeon instance type in Embervale. They’re distinct from:
- Night Sanctums — story-focused boss arenas (one per region), Flame-gated, drop gear + lore items
- Sun Temples — puzzle-based treasure rooms, no boss
- Ancient Spires — fast-travel altars, no combat
The Hollow Cyclops guards the end of each hall as the dungeon’s reward gate — defeat it to claim the head trophy and whatever legendary gear rolled on the shrine.
Compare with other boss factions
Hollow is one of five boss factions in Embervale:
- Fell faction — 7 open-world bosses, Shroud-corrupted, Flame 3-8
- Cyclops faction — 1 open-world boss (Albaneve Caves), easiest in the game
- Scavenger faction — 1 boss, three combat variants, Flame 3
- Vukah faction — 1 boss, weak to poison and fog, Hammer of the Gods
- All bosses by region — every boss grouped by biome
The Hollow Cyclops is the only named boss that exists exclusively inside dungeon instances — it never appears as an open-world encounter the way every other named boss does.
