Enshrouded Kindlewastes - Guide, Heat Hazards & Desert Bases
Kindlewastes is Enshrouded's mid-game desert (levels 20-30, Flame 5-6) with heat hazards. How to base the sand and manage the scorching.
The Kindlewastes are where the environment itself stops being neutral. After the open but survivable highlands, the mid-game desert brings a second threat stacked on top of the Shroud: heat. Slow, exposed movement in the open sand costs you, and a base that is built for looks rather than shade will not hold. This is the region where you stop building for the Shroud and start building for the day cycle.

Where the Kindlewastes fit
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Level range | 20-30 |
| Flame level | 5-6 |
| Role | Mid-game desert |
| Core hazard | Heat (environmental, in addition to the Shroud) |
| Shroud pressure | High - open sand, little cover |
| Exits to | Albaneve Summits |
What the heat demands
- Build for shade, not just shelter. Thick-walled rooms, small openings, and covered courtyards are not decorative - they are what keep the camp usable. Minimize open floor.
- Keep water work under cover. Anything that needs water - refining, dyeing, the lagoon-side stations - should sit under cover and close to the water source, so you are not crossing open sand to do it.
- Move when it is safe. The day cycle matters here. Plan your longer runs for the cool windows and keep your camp compact so the open-ground time between stations is short.
Bosses in Kindlewastes
The wastes carry the mid-to-late-game boss tier plus a dungeon boss.
| Boss | Flame | Core mechanic (verified) |
|---|---|---|
| Fell Sicklescythe | 6 | Haunted Sun Temple; highly mobile, block its sickles |
| Scavenger Matron | 3 | One of her four variants; head gives Flame 3 + grapple-hook upgrade |
| Vukah Brawler | mid | Weak to fire; one big leap-onto-you attack; drops Jezmina’s Apotheosis |
| Fell Critter Queen | varies | Miniboss; stays mobile and ranged; drops Giant Critter Scales |
| Hollow Cyclops | dungeon | Guardian of the Kindlewastes Hollow Hall |
The full per-region boss breakdown is in the bosses & dungeons hub.
Key resources
The desert opens the late-mid material tiers and the heat-specific inputs.
- Desert ore and sand materials - the inputs for the upper mid-tier gear.
- Heat-hazard mitigation items - whatever the 1.0 build uses to reduce heat exposure (potions, gear, or camp structures).
Getting to the Albaneve Summits
With the wastes crossed and a shaded camp that survives the heat, the next region is the Albaneve Summits (levels 30-40, Flame 6-8), the late-game frozen mountains. The Kindlewastes are the first region where the environment is an active adversary - and the skills you learn managing the heat carry directly into managing the cold that comes next.
For a base layout that fits the desert, see the base design gallery and filter by the Kindlewastes biome.
